How Large Organizations Manage AI Projects

Image
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a key driver of innovation across industries. When we think of AI, many assume that data scientists alone handle the entire process, especially in smaller organizations. However, in larger organizations, AI-related projects involve various specialized roles, all working in a coordinated fashion. This article walks through how these teams work together, ensuring successful AI implementation in large enterprises. The Key Players in an AI Project AI projects in large organizations follow a structured approach, with each person contributing their expertise to ensure a robust solution is delivered. 1. Project Sponsor: Every AI initiative begins with a business need or problem, identified by the project sponsor. This individual typically comes from a senior management or executive level and has the authority to fund the project. They play a critical role in aligning the project’s goals with the organization’s business objectives. 2. Pro...

The Curious Case of a Faulty UPS and Its Restart Solution

Troubleshooting My UPS: A Restart Fix for a Blinking Inverter A few months ago, I decided to invest in a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to safeguard my electronic devices during power outages. It worked perfectly fine for the first 4 to 5 months, but then suddenly, I noticed it wasn’t charging anymore. Naturally, I turned to Google to figure out what might be going wrong. Unfortunately, despite all my searching, I couldn't find any reliable information or articles that addressed the exact issue I was experiencing. The most puzzling thing was that all the indicator lights on the UPS started blinking at the same time, and no amount of Googling gave me an answer to what that meant. I thought about contacting Luminous, the brand of my UPS, and registered a complaint on their website. However, a week passed with no response, and I was left to figure things out on my own. Luckily, one of my friends suggested that the blinking lights could be due to a "hanging" i...

My Solar Power Journey: Insights and ROI Calculation

I recently had a detailed conversation with the team from one of the solar vendor regarding solar power installation for my home, and I wanted to share the insights I gained. Key Questions I Asked and Their Responses: 1. ROI (Return on Investment) This was my top concern since Bangalore has around three months with minimal sunlight. I asked how feasible it would be to recover my investment in a reasonable period. Their response: They assured me that even with reduced sunlight during certain months, a 1 kW system would generate a minimum of 4 units per day on average. My calculation: On average, my electricity bill comes to around ₹2,500 to ₹3,000 per month. Units consumed: ₹2,750 (average bill) / ₹7.50 (rate per unit) = ~367 units per month Solar generation and excess units: Assuming 1 kW generates an average of 6 units per day (since we occasionally go on holidays), a 3 kW system would generate: 3 kW * 6 units/day * 30 days = 540 units per month Excess solar power earnings: Of these, ...

Understanding Inverter Load Calculation and Power Backup Needs

As more households shift toward using inverters and UPS systems for uninterrupted power during outages, it becomes essential to understand how to calculate the right load for your home and ensure you invest in a system that meets your power needs efficiently. Let’s take a closer look at how to determine the right inverter load and battery capacity, using a typical household setup as an example. 1. Calculating the Power Load for Your Home To begin with, we need to identify the total power requirement of the appliances we want to run during a power outage. This involves listing each appliance, along with its wattage, and then calculating the total load: Kitchen: 4 LED lights, each consuming 40 watts = 160 watts Living Room: 6 LED lights, each consuming 60 watts = 360 watts Master Bedroom: 6 LED lights, each consuming 60 watts = 360 watts Television: 1 unit consuming 180 watts = 180 watts Fans: 4 units, each consuming 75 watts = 300 watts Refrigerator: A standard fridge typically runs on ...
